Charles Robinson Obituary

Charles T. Robinson, DVM
March 13, 1929 – October 25, 2023
Charles Terrell Robinson (Charlie), 94, passed away surrounded by family at his home on October 25, 2023. He was born March 13, 1929, to Harry and Evelyn Gregory Robinson in San Bernardino, CA. He attended Staunton Military Academy in his youth and spent summers home riding horses, enjoying friends, and working in his family’s orange grove. He met his life’s love, Fiala Mraz, in Fontana and they married July 1953.

Veterinary medicine was his calling. He attended UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1956. After associateships in Richmond and Ukiah, he moved with his young family to Santa Rosa, and opened Lakeside Pet Hospital in 1960, which he built into an impressive full-service small animal hospital. He continued his affiliation with UC Davis as a volunteer faculty member, developing expertise in veterinary oncology. With a group of colleagues, he helped to found the Sonoma County Emergency Veterinary Clinic, the county’s first 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital.

Our father was a remarkable and special man – selfless, kind, loving, brilliant, humorous, tireless, and giving with all his heart. Dad shared his love, joy, laughter, and fun which fill our memories with family vacations to Lake Almonor, fishing, water skiing, projects, gardening, baking and cooking, books, animals, hard work, and so much more. We cherished him for who he was, as the leader of our family, our father, and confidante. We miss him so much.

Charles was predeceased by his adored wife Fiala, and his brothers Ben and Gregory. He is survived by his five children, John (Joan), George (Nancy), Laurie, Gerald, and Andrea (Russell Joseph), eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express great gratitude to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Hospice Services, and give special thanks to his devoted caregivers, Knox, Ulai, Bille, and the Bulafiji Caregiving Agency, whose loving care enabled Charles to complete his life in his home. To any wishing to make donations, we suggest the Earle Baum Center in Santa Rosa, National Glaucoma Research, St. Josephs Hospice Services, or Canine Companions.
